Summary

There are a lot of options out there when it comes to mountain bikes. But how do you find the best option? There are just so many to pick from.

Well we've compared everything that's available right now, and here are our top picks.

If you are on a budget, we recommend the Huffy DS-3er. This is your basic mountain bike and due to the price it's a great starter option. What's more, since it's a Huffy, the quality is much higher than the cheap chinese bikes.

If you can spend a bit more, we recommend upgrading to the Diamondback Recoil Comp 29er. It looks like a much more serious bike and with 29 inch wheels it can handle a lot more obstacles...and is one of the better bargains for the money. You get top of the class performance for mid-range price.

And if you want to go all out and money is no object, we recommend the Wiel Carbon Fiber...this is the top of the line, the lightest, most durable, best handling bike you can get.

Value

When it comes to mountain bikes we recommend going for the mid-range option. The top of the line models are really reserved for competitive bikers...and you'll quickly outgrow the entry level models. The mid-range on the other hand will keep up as your skill grows, and it's actually the smart investment here...since you'll be upgrading to it after riding for a single season.

The Good
All of these bikes are high quality products that won't fall apart on you. They are also very popular models(for obvious reasons), which means they have very high resale values. You can literally ride around for a few years, and then sell it for only a few bucks less.
The Bad
It's important to buy these from reputable sellers(i.e. Amazon)...shipping a bike is a big task, so you want to make sure you deal with a vendor that has great customer support and a no-nonsense return policy.
